Oncology Patient Navigator
Here at Wooster Community Hospital, we understand how frustrating it can be to navigate the health care system when you have a disease as complex as cancer. We recognized a need for someone who could help cancer patients through the process and created the role of Oncology Patient Navigator.
Your Oncology Patient Navigator is a medical professional who specializes in the process of oncology diagnoses and treatment. They’re here to not only support you with your physical health but also provide you with a shoulder to lean on and moral support as well. We understand how overwhelming this process may be to do alone – so we provide you with a trusted resource to help you through it all.
Meet Our Patient Navigator
Meet Brittany Picklesimer, our Oncology Patient Navigator. Brittany is available to help oncology patients and their family members overcome health care system barriers. She will be with you across the full continuum of cancer care services – from diagnosis through treatment and beyond – to create a seamless, patient-centered experience.
In this role, Brittany can help:
- Explain your diagnosis and treatment options.
- Facilitate timely access to medical care and providers.
- Handle insurance questions.
- Manage medical paperwork.
- Communicate with your healthcare team.
- Assist caregivers.
- Connect you to available resources, both internal and external, including financial assistance and support groups.
- Inform you about any available clinical trials you may qualify for.
- Advocate for your rights and needs as a cancer patient.
The list above is by no means comprehensive. We understand that your journey is likely going to be multi-faceted and complex. Brittany is there to guide you through every step of the way with warmth and a smile. If you have any questions about how Brittany can help you navigate through your oncology journey, we encourage you to contact us today by calling (330) 202-5591 or by emailing bpicklesimer@wchosp.org.
What Qualifies Me for the Oncology Patient Navigator?
Many of our patients are excited about the idea of having a supportive role to follow them throughout their cancer journey – and many of them wonder what the requirements are to qualify for such service. - The choice to undergo treatment for your cancer diagnosis.
We understand that undergoing treatment for your cancer can be a daunting task to do on your own. That’s why we are proud to offer a team of professionals who are able to help you and support you through this process. We’re happy to advocate for you and your loved ones, ensuring you get the highest-quality, comprehensive care for your condition every step of the way.
