Volunteer Services
All of Us Together...Makes a Successful Hospital!
"As I look around the hospital I see many different Volunteers. Each volunteer's face tells a story; so many faces, so many stories. Volunteers come from many different backgrounds. Each have many different life experiences and yet all have at least one thing in common, their willingness to give their time to help others.
I am impressed by their generosity, spirit and compassion for Wooster Community Hospital. Please take time this week to say THANK YOU for choosing our hospital for their Volunteer Experience!"
-Carla Redick, Volunteer Coordinator
Thank You to all of our wonderful volunteers here at WCH. We truly appreciate all that you do!
Volunteer ApplicationHealthcare Retirees: Empowering Communities Through Volunteerism
Are you looking for a unique opportunity to serve others, and at the same time learn new skills and make new friends?
According to many of our volunteers, the most significant benefit they receive from volunteering is a genuine sense of satisfaction from helping others. Our volunteers come from every walk of life and they appreciate the opportunity to learn new skills and make new friends.
Teenagers and college students have a unique learning opportunity through the Junior Partner program (ages 14-18) and our Medic Aide (college) program. The work our volunteers perform at Wooster Community Hospital is important, and the friendships they make are long-lasting.
Our most popular positions are working at the information desk, gift shop, messenger (delivering internal mail), and escort (running errands). Other volunteers assist patients by filling water pitchers, delivering comfort items, acting as a friendly visitor, and helping with clerical work on the nursing units and wherever needed.
As a WCH volunteer, you’ll receive:
- The satisfaction of making a difference in people’s lives
- Free meal for each volunteer day of four hours or more
- Flu shot annually
- Annual recognition and awards event

Wooster Community Hospital would like to announce a new volunteer program, Comfort Connectors.
The Comfort Connectors program is an inspiring new initiative designed to empower recently retired nurses and social workers to continue their legacy of compassionate care. Under the thoughtful leadership of Angie Chapman—a recently retired nurse herself and our dedicated Comfort Connectors Champion—this program offers a unique opportunity to bring comfort, encouragement, and human connection to ICU patients and their loved ones.
Through care rounding as a Comfort Connector, you can make a profound difference in the lives of those who need it most. Whether it involves sharing a heartfelt conversation, engaging in light activities like playing a game, or simply offering a reassuring presence, your contributions will help alleviate the loneliness, anxiety, or fear that patients and families may be experiencing.
While clinical staff focus on delivering life-saving treatments, Comfort Connectors will enrich the patient experience in ways only a warm and personal touch can achieve. This pilot program is a chance to extend your career’s deeply impactful work while fulfilling a way to remain an integral part of the patient care community.
Join us and continue making moments matter for ICU patients and their families.
