Commitment – Wooster Community Hospital Health System has a responsibility to safeguard the health and wellness of our community by addressing the environmental impacts of our day-to-day operations. As a recognized leader in the healthcare industry, we are in an excellent position to lead by example in the adoption of environmental best practices in our delivery of exceptional patient care.
- Sustainable Design Partners
- We choose to work with experienced architects who have a strong background in LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) practices, enabling us to utilize many best practices in design and construction.
- Energy
- With the goal of energy efficiency, we have partnered with our electricity provider to work closely with us on our projects.
- In all of our new construction projects, we strive to utilize energy-efficient products such as LED lighting and lighting-control products.

- 2017 North Addition Project:
- New chiller plant with advanced sequencing
- Efficient rooftop air handlers
- LED lighting and controls
- 2018 Boiler Plant:
- 4 new dual fuel-on-demand boilers with low NOx ratings and higher energy efficiency

- Recycling
- Scrap metals are collected and delivered to our local recycling facility.
- This includes scrap materials from projects, which helps reduce the amount of material sent to the landfill.
- Construction material and medical equipment:
- We have partnered with several nonprofit organizations to donate our construction materials and medical equipment that we may no longer have a need for.
- Our Future Goals
- Continue to partner with organizations that would help us implement initiatives which are in line with our commitment to our community.
- Continue to educate staff about the opportunities for sustainability within our organization.
