Health Equity
At Wooster Community Hospital, we care about our community and the needs of our community members and are committed to providing “accessible, quality health care services to all people.”
Every three to five years, Wooster Community Hospital (WCH) undertakes a comprehensive Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) to better understand and address the unique health needs of our community. This systematic process serves as a vital tool in identifying health disparities and barriers to care, allowing WCH to align our services with the specific needs of those we serve.
By conducting the CHNA, we can guide our strategic health planning, allocate resources effectively, and strengthen partnerships with local organizations to foster collaboration. These insights also support our commitment to meeting regulatory and accreditation standards, ensuring we continue to provide the highest level of care.
Partnering with community members and key stakeholders, we actively seek feedback while consulting trusted data sources such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other public health databases. This collective effort reflects our dedication to creating a healthier, stronger community for everyone.

How Do We Know We Are Serving All People?
Our registration and nursing staff ask questions during the onboarding process, which provide us with data on our patients’ race, ethnicity, religion, and primary language. This data is used to identify any health disparities that may exist in our community that we need to then focus efforts to reduce or eliminate.
